FROZEN IN TIME
Dear Friends, there is much to be concerned about with IVF (Invitro Fertilization), which is about implanting a fertilized egg outside of the natural course of creation.
And, why the concern?
First of all, let us learn from those who have gone before us, beginning with Abraham and Sara. God promised Abraham that he would be the father of many nations, with the number of his offspring greater than the “stars in the sky.”
And, yet, in their old age, they were barren.
With the time clock ticking, Sara decided they should take the situation into their own hands and help God out with His plan, and Abraham agreed to take his slave girl as a fill in, in order to have the offspring God promised.
Enter the picture, Ishmael; and eventually a mess of a situation as Isaac was born and there was jealousy and resentment between the mothers. Ishmael, with his mother, was sent away, and he eventually became the father of the muslim religion, which opposed the true religion God was bringing about through Abraham.
The moral of the story, don’t try to take God’s plan for our life into our own hands, to do it our way; because if we do, we will only create a mess of a problem for ourselves, and, ultimately, all of humanity.
SAINTS JOACHIM AND ANNE, THE PARENTS OF MARY
Onto another very significant example of the importance of seeking God’s Will in all things rather than our own.
According to Tradition, Saints Anne and Joachim were a very holy and upright couple, always seeking God’s will, but with a great grief in their lives of being up in age and barren. The couple was looked down upon for not having the blessing of children. But, as Scripture tells us, God’s ways are not our ways. They stayed true, and trusted in Him; and in their later years became vessels to bring forth the Immaculate Conception, Mary, the Mother of Jesus. God had such a special plan for them; and, though they didn’t always understand, amidst their suffering and perseverance they cooperated with His grace, and became the grandparents of Jesus, the Savior of the World.
ST. ELIZABETH AND ZECHARIAH, PARENTS OF ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST
And, then we have the special parents of John the Baptist; again, barren and childless in old age, which brought them great grief, heartache and ridicule. As with the parents of Mary, God had a very important plan and mission for Elizabeth and Zechariah, to bring forth the precursor of Jesus, St. John the Baptist.
Had Anne and Joachim, or Elizabeth and Zechariah sought their own way because they didn’t see God acting as they thought best, what would have happened with Salvation History? Where would we find ourselves today? All going to hell without a Savior?
How very important it is for each of us to seek always God’s Divine and Holy Will in our lives. Not just any god of our own conjuring, but THE GOD of the Ten Commandments, of the Beatitudes; the Holy Trinity, Father Son and Holy Spirit; Jesus, who is the Way, the Truth and the Life, who shows us how to live a life of abandonment to the Heavenly Father, virtue and sacrificial love.
FROZEN IN TIME
And, certainly, there are so many aspects of IVF that could be touched upon here, but let us just look at possibly the most atrocious and devastating outcome of it: the fertilized embryos, of which we all have been at one time in our lives. How is this avenue affecting the children who come forth from this process, and those that are just thrown away after being frozen in time and not chosen?
Having worked in the inner healing ministry for many years, it is very apparent that we are affected in our lives from the moment of our conception in our mother’s womb, or outside of it in IVF cases. We pick up the feelings, spirits, experiences of the conception, and throughout the time of gestation until birth. And, at times we are in need of healing in such early stages of life; allowing Jesus, the Holy Spirit, Mary, to enter in with God’s redeeming Love, truth and grace.
This in no way is a denigration of these innocent children who have been brought forth in such a way; but rather it is out of a desire to embrace them in the Love of God; and, as well, the multitude of frozen ones who were not chosen; many of which have been discarded, and many still frozen in time.
May we all have the grace to recognize the grave need for all of us to let God be God in our lives, and not ourselves. I’m sure we can all see all around us the bad fruits of taking life into our own hands. If we turn to God, He is all merciful. If we don’t, it will only get worse.
+Lord have mercy on us all for the ways we go outside of your Divine and Holy Will, and make a mess of our lives and the lives of others. Forgive us for the ways we still crucify you today through our actions.
Holy Mother Mary, Lord Jesus, Heavenly Father, please take all of the innocent children, embryos, babies in the womb murdered through abortion, into your Hearts and your embrace, that they may all experience your healing, redeeming love, despite our sinful actions.
Father, forgive us, for we often know not what we do!
