As we continue in this Advent season, in preparation for his birth/his second coming, let us reflect deeply and take to heart His every word, especially in the Gospel passages.
And let us remember that if He was misunderstood, not received, and persecuted, we will be also. We are living in significant times, where the "sheep and the goats" (Rev.) are being separated more clearly; as fence stratlers must choose sides.
Those who are not living the Gospel message of Jesus Christ, but rather, by the spirit of the world the flesh and the devil, will not understand us (unless they are truly seeking, and have "ears to hear," the truth).
Granted, at this time there is a great darkness and deception everywhere, so we must pray for God's light and truth to prevail and enlighten the hearts of all who are being misled or deceived; which includes many of us to varying degrees. This is why we must immerse ourselves in the "Word of God" who is "The Way, The Truth and The Life."
As well, we must be prepared to not be received or understood by many.
I remind us of what Jesus said to the Jews who did not believe in Him:
"Why do you not understand what I say? It is because you cannot bear to hear my word. You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He... has nothing to do with the truth because there is no truth in him. When he lies he speaks according to his own nature for he is a liar and the father of lies. But because I tell the truth you do not believe me... If I tell the truth why do you not believe me? He who is of God hears the words of God; the reason why you do not hear them is that you are not of God." (Jn 8:43-47)
